Abiotic (Physiological disorder)

Characteristic Symptoms:

Immature fruit may turn brown starting from the blossom end, shrivel and abort.

If fruits do not abort and continue to develop, they are often misshapen with poor seed production.
Conditions for Disease Development
Poor pollination is commonly observed at temperatures above 32C and during cool and cloudy weather.
Management and Control:
Avoid insecticide application during pollination period.
Avoid planting melon during hot times of the year.
Avoid excessive nitrogen fertilization in order to promote blossom formation and minimize vegetative growth.
