| Characteristic Symptoms: | |
|  | Fruits of an infected plants have slightly raised ring-like pattern | 
|  | Infected tomato plants usually become stunted. | 
| Crops Affected | |
|  | Solanaceous (tomato, pepper) | 
|  | Cucurbits (watermelon) | 
| Management and Control: | |
|  | Use resistant/tolerant varieties, if available. | 
|  | Remove infected plants as early as symptoms are observed to prevent/minimize spread. | 
|  | Remove weeds that may serve as alternate hosts. | 
|  | Control/minimize thrips population by using plastic mulch, insect traps and/or use of insecticides such as profenofos (e.g. Selecron) and acephate (e.g. Acetam, Compete). |
