Causal Agent:
Fungus (Pseudocercospora fuligena)
| Characteristic Symptoms: | |
| | The disease affects the leaves, petioles and stem. |
| | Spots on the upper leaf surface are pale yellow and indistinct. |
| | Under high humidity conditions, mass of dark brown to black spores can be observed on the lower leaf surface. |
| | Heavily infected plants are blighted in appearance. |
| Management and Control: | |
| | Remove infected plants from the field and avoid planting new tomato plants while diseased plants remain nearby. |
| | Avoid dense planting. |
| | Preventive application of chemical fungicides (mancozeb+copper hydroxide, chlorothalonil, difenoconazole). |
| | Early detection will help reduce the number of fungicide sprays that may need to be applied. |
| | Preventive application of chemical fungicides such as mancozeb (e.g. Attain M-80Ⓡ, Achem Mancozeb 80 WPⓇ, Micron 80 WOⓇ, VanzebⓇ), chlorothalonil (e.g. Daconil®, Agronil®, Yoda®, Rover®, Yoda 500Ⓡ), copper hydroxide (e.g. FunguranⓇ, KocideⓇ, Hydroxide superⓇ) or difenoconazole (e.g. ScoreⓇ, MontanaⓇ, PursueⓇ, BashⓇ). |
